Day 3, 26th dec. Hilton Hotel. Narita train station. Utsunomiya. Nikko.
As usual, woke up around 8am, took the hotel shuttle bus to Narita train station. We went to a nearby eating house for breakfast. I had ramen, its just plain ramen with some spring onions. And its SALTY!! Then we are off to nikko. But 1st, we had to take a bullet train to Utsunomiya, then transfer to a subway train to nikko. I feel that apart from Japanese being courteous, they are also very considerate. Look at the picture below. At almost all the escalators whether its in shopping centres or in train station, no matter how squeezy it is, they will position themselves to the left and allow the right for people to overtake them. Speaking about Sinaporeans, we will all chiong to occupy any available space. *sigh* Here we are, at the train station... Bullet TrainHurray, we finally reached Nikko after 5 hrs i think. The whole journey should takes about 3 hrs plus but due to the strong wind, the train had to stop and hide inside the tunnel for safety. My godma expected snowing, but when we reached Nikko, its raining... We took a public bus to our resort. En route from the train station to our resort, we lost our way because we alighted at the wrong bus stop. Luckily, we found our resort with the help of the 7 eleven people.. A river flow...The resort is a ryokan style (japanese style hotel). I.e we will be sleeping on the floormat called tatami. Awwww, its awful. You will have backache after that night if you are 1st time sleeping on it. After checking in, we went to he nikko spa (onsen) inside the resort individually. Its a private spa duh~ Warning to onsen users, remember not to soak yourselves for too long, you will feel giddy when you get up... The onsen pool After the spa, we walked a long long way to a Jap-kor restaurant for dinner. Its run by an old couple and the serves delicious food. Hot Sake Korean style dish After the dinner, we went back to the hotel. Of course after a heavy meal, its not possible to go to bed immediately. So we went to dig out the yukata (japanese 'robe').. Thats all for day 3. Turn on the heater and sleep... Day 2, 25th dec. Hilton Hotel. Narita International Airport. Narita train station. Tokyo. Shibuya. Super early sunrise~~ 5am plus and the sun is shinning through the curtains.. But couldnt be bothered, was so tired, went back to sleep until 7.30 am. Wash up and took a hotel shuttle bus to Narita Airport fo our breakfast. Wow! I love the restaurant man!! I really do lo! Their restaurant is divided into non smokers zone and smokers zone without any barrier to block the smoke from diffusing from the smokers zone into the non smokers zone. And I'm practially eating my beef udon with smoke~~ Nice man!! After that smoked breakfast, we took a bus to the Narita Train Station and we bought a 5 day trip east railyway 'passport'. Well, it cost 16k yen, about S$213. Its a bit expensive, but it will definitely be cheaper if u buy the standard tix which will cost like 4k-5k yen (S$53) travelling from Narita to Tokyo. And also we are going to travel a lot by train during this trip. Thats the inside of the train, there will be a lady with a push cart going around selling food (Its not cheap duh~) O well, they say the train is rapid, express blah blah, but it still took us 1hr plus to reach Tokyo from Narita. And the train is VERY STUFFY!!! They thought its winter so the air con is switched off, but can they kindly turn on the FAN MODE!!! its bloody suffy lah!! Thats the only time i sweat in Jap, thats in the TRAINS!
If you are a 1st timer to Japan, U will die staring at the map and finding the destination you want to go. ITS SO SO SO MESSY!! Over 8 railway lines, think over 100stations ba.. After we reached Tokyo, we went to this Lei Men. Its a shopping street inside, but at the end of the street is a temple. Didnt bought much things inside the street.
The shopping street Inside the temple After the temple, we took a subway to shibuya!! Shibuya is basically a shopping paradise. Lots of shopping building, deparments buildings blah blah...
Our target today is Shibuya 109, a shopping complex. Its a 9 storeys pure full of FEMALE lastest fashion stuffs! Trash our singapore shopping malls! Then we went to Shibuya 109-2. Well, they say Shibuya 109-2 sells men stuffs, but haiz... it has only around 4 floors of men's clothings etc and mixed with 3 floors of female stuffs.. There are just limited Male fashion things lah... And after the window shopping at Shibuya, took our narita express back to narita. Hehe, I took a pic of the male toilet in the train. The male toilet
Day 1, 24th dec. Changi Airport. Narita Airport. Hilton Hotel
Yawn... Woke up around 4.30 am, quickly wash up then called a cab to the airport. This trip consists of my dad, mum, sis, 2nd aunt (aka godma) and me! After we reached the airport, went to the counter to check in. Thats only check in, we havent got our boarding pass yet. While waiting for the boarding pass, we went to the canteen for some breakfast. Around 6.30am, we went to collect our boarding pass. And guess what! Its not economy class, its not business class, ITS.... 1st CLASS!! In my entire life, this is my 1st time sitting in 1st class seat... cool~ This is how the front view looks like If you aren't sure whats the difference between 1st class and the other classes, let me tell you. In 1st class, the seats can be adjusted into a BED, and apart from that, their services are so so so damn good lah! They will address you, and throughout the whole 6hrs flight, i had 3 meals. They will constantly refill your drinks, chit chat with you ... OOoooo! Mount Fuji! Finally we are somewhere in japan! Tada~~ We finally reached Japan international airport. Its call Narita international airport. Some of you may ask, why didnt we land in Tokyo airport instead? Let me tell you, in Japan, there are more than 5 airports, but out of these, only one is international, and that is in Narita. Okay, reached the hotel around 3pm Jap time which is sg 2pm. The reason why we chose a hotel in Narita instead of Tokyo, its because one night in narita hotel is around S$80 whereas in Tokyo, one night is about S$400!! OMG horrors!! Narita Train Station We took the hotel shuttle bus to Narita Train Station for our dinnner nearby... Our 1st meal in Jap And this is our 1st meal in Jap. Its a small Japanese restaurant run by a couple. That evening I ate their jap rice meal... The Dark street Hey guys, guess what time is it at the pic? ITS ONLY 5pm plus!!! And the street is DEAD! Total darkness! Well, sunsets pretty early, around 5pm plus and most of the shops there were closed by 7pm... After the dinner, we went back to the hotel... Its a cold day, around 10-13 dgc...woooo... Thats it for day one, pretty short hor? |
